When will the Girl Scout Experience Center Open?
Our hope is to complete this project by the end of 2025. However, we are committed to finding the right location for GSSA’s Girl Experience Center and to complete work to outfit the space in a way that suits the needs of girls and volunteers. Stay tuned for updates on our progress!
What happens if the current Mobile office sells before the Experience Center is open?
The goal is to have a seamless transition between spaces in Mobile. However, if the current office sells before the Experience Center is open, our staff will transition to working from home in the interim time. Rest assured that we will continue to meet the needs of girls and volunteers, including providing access to needs from the council store.
Will there be a Girl Scout Store at the Girl Scout Experience Center?
We are working on plans for the new center, which includes a redesigned store space.
It makes me sad that the Mobile office is closing. Why can’t GSSA just renovate the building?
The current Mobile office has provided a warm and welcoming home for Girl Scouts for many years, and we celebrate this legacy. However, we must meet the needs of girls, both now and in the future, and our Girl Experience Center will do just that, with a girl-focused space that is designed for them. We cannot do this in our current space, which is both aging and no longer central to our Gulf Region girl population.
I live in Baldwin County. Is the new location going to be hard to reach?
We see you, Baldwin County! We are looking for space that will be central for most of our girls in the Gulf Region, and our hope is to move to an area that is convenient for those who live across the bay. Please know that we are keeping you in mind during this process.
Where will our Mobile Cookie Cupboard be once the Girl Scout Experience Center opens?
Great question! We hope there will be space at the Experience Center to house cookies for our Mobile-area cupboard. If this is not possible, though, we will work to find a suitable location for cookie distribution that meets your needs. We will have a plan in place that is clearly communicated to you ahead of the Girl Scout Cookie season.
My girls work hard to sell cookies. Is GSSA putting our cookie funds toward this project?
No! GSSA will fund the transition to the Girl Experience Center through the sale of the current Mobile office. Any overage funds will be placed in a board-restricted account to support continuous improvement of GSSA properties.
The GS Archives at the Mobile Office is really cool. Will we have an this at the Girl Scout Experience Center?
We love GS history, too, and GSSA has some wonderful vintage pieces. We hope to have a curated space in the Experience Center to highlight some of these items that are central to our Girl Scout history.
This sounds awesome — my troop and I have ideas on what the Girl Scout Experience Center should include! Who do I share this information with?
Please email customercare@girlscoutssa.org with your ideas. We would love to hear what your dream space looks like!
How will you communicate information during this process?
We promise to keep you updated as we confirm a time line for the opening of the GSSA Girl Scout Experience Center in Mobile. Watch for updates on our social pages and in The Volunteer Chatter. We cannot wait to share this exciting journey with you!
