1) What year did you become involved/take on your current role in your SU?
2025
2) What area does your SU cover?
Dothan
3) When and where does your SU meet?
We are in a rebuilding stage as a service unit and have only met 1 time at Bondy's Nissan.
4) What is your favorite type of GS activity?
I enjoy the philanthropic side of Girl Scouting. Seeing girls experience an area of their community where they can contribute their time or resources and get educated to a cause that they may have never thought was a need in their own town.
5) What is your SU's claim to fame?
Since we are still in the rebuilding stage we haven't had an event together in a long time. Years ago we held an annual fall festival at the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens that was a big turn out and allowed girls from other troops to interact with one another with crafts, games and snacks.
6) What do you look forward to the most in your role with the SU?
Opening up the lines of communication and bringing leaders together to share ideas and events. I feel it's important to learn from the tenured leaders and embrace the energy of the new ones!
7) What achievement are you most proud of when it comes to Girl Scouts?
Seeing girls gain confidence or try something new (or scary) and realize that they can do hard things! Also showing them that it's ok to fail as long as they tried their best. Comradery between girls is one of the best things any leader can see their girls doing, especially during something challenging or lifting them up with confidence!
8) What is your favorite memory with Girl Scouts, either as a girl member, a Troop leader, or in your SU role?
There was a time when I wasn't able to lead a meeting, even after arriving at the meeting space, but the girls (at the time Brownies) saw the materials and took the initiative to do the project and worked as a team to get the job done. One of my proudest moments seeing them step up and showcase their leadership skills in action!
