Earn your GSSA Outdoor Essentials Training so that you can take your Troop on overnight camping adventures, lead them in a campfire activity, or help them progress through the Outdoor Essentials Patch Program. Once you arrive, you will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate your own outdoor skills: fire safety, outdoor cooking, knife safety, cleaning up, knots, and shelter-building will all be a part of this training!
Pre-requisites: Adults must complete the Overnight Certification Knowledge Check and have a working knowledge of the material in the Outdoor Essentials Resource Manual prior to attending.
This training is being held alongside the JGL Birthday Campout at the same location. Troops attending the JGL Birthday Campout will need to bring enough adults to stay within safety ratios. An adult who will be participating in this training will not count toward the safety ratio for the troop.
After attending the in-person event, adults must complete an Outdoor Essentials Knowledge Check in gsLearn so that they will receive credit for completing the GSSA Outdoor Essentials Training.
