I attended an event a few weeks ago and spent some time walking along with some girls. One girl was saying to another that her mother was gone, so she and her siblings were going back into foster care. It was a matter of fact type of conversation, and clearly, this had happened before. She wasn't very old, and as I walked along, I was grateful for the stability of my own family. Some of these things we just take for granted. I have to believe that Girl Scouts is an important and stabilizing part of her life. Never under estimate the extent to which you influence the lives of the girls you touch.
