What kind of information will be discussed at this? What agenda/perspective does the counseling center support?
The Youth Congress of South Alabama is made up of young people from service oriented organizations in the greater Mobile area. The Girl Scouts is one of the member organizations and have four young ladies that serve on sub-committees. The Relationships subcommittee sponsored the " Rap on Relationships" last Friday night as a forum for teens to discuss healthy ways to deal with relationships in their lives. The forum was led completely by the members of the committee. There were guest speakers from Lifeline Family Counseling Center. The speeches mostly centered around having good self esteem, respecting others, and involving yourself in healthy relationships and activities. Members of the counseling center made themselves available after the forum if individual students had questions or concerns, but no actual counseling took place during the forum. The program was very professional and interesting; no individual perspective or agenda was promoted other than the necessity to involve oneself in healthy relationships.
