Calling all recent Bronze, Silver & Gold Recipients!

| | Comments (3)

Would you like your hard work recognized at this year's Older Girl Recognition Banquet (Saturday March 28 in Montgomery at Troy University)?

February 2 is the deadline for Bronze and Silver Award projects to be turned in, if you would like to be recognized at the banquet.  Girls working on their Gold Awards must submit their final paperwork by February 2, in order to set up an interview.  To attend the banquet, the special event form in Connections is due March 15.

You will need to prepare and turn in a posterboard with photos and information on your project;  the posterboard will be on display at the Banquet for everyone to see!  Let your fellow Girl Scouts be inspired by your accomplishment!

The January 3rd training for the Bronze Award and others was cancelled for Montgomery. We need the specific requirements for our girls who are trying to earn the Bronze award. Where can we get the information.

Thanks.

Specific requirement for the Bronze Award can be found in two places: one is in the back section of the Junior Handbook. The other is on the council website:www.girlscoutssa.org. Go to Forms and Resources and download the Bronze Award planner. Each girl that plans to earn the Bronze Award should fill out page 4 and submit to the Mobile Service Center. She should then work on her award, following the instructions and submit the entire planner when she is finished.

Girls must complete and submit their Bronze Award project and all of their paperwork before September 30 of their 7th grade year in order to earn this award.

New guidelines for Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards will be released by GSUSA in June. Younger Junior Girl Scouts might want to work on the Journeys and wait for the new requirements before starting.

Another award traiing will be scheduled for Montgomery in April. Check future GSSA Weeklys for specific information.

Troop leaders with specific questions about any awards should contact Mary Anne in the Mobile Service Center.

Information for the girls' Bronze Award SHOULD be located in the girls' handbook. Look up Bronze Award" in the index at the back of the book. I have an older book...but I don't think the book has been changed since I bought mine. I found all the info on page 202. There is also information on how to earn the four girl scout signs and also the Junior Leadership award. You need to earn one of the four signs to earn the Bronze award. Hope this information helps.
