This program covers this (these) Girl Scout Outcome(s):

Sense of Self – Girls have the confidence in themselves and their abilities, and form positive identities.

Positive Values – Girls act ethically, honestly, and responsibly, and show concern for others.

Challenge Seeking – Girls take appropriate risks, try things even though they may fail, and learn from their mistakes.

Community Problem Solving – Girls desire to contribute to the world in purposeful and meaningful ways, learn how to identify problems in the community, create “action plans” to solve them.

Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama is partnering with Mobile Baykeeper, 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center and WildNative Tours to teach girls about our ecosystem at Down by the Bay! Girls will learn about our expansive delta that is considered the most biologically diverse ecosystems in North America and the 5 rivers that flow into our bay. Girls will tour 5 Rivers Delta Exhibit Hall exploring animal and plant life of the Delta. They will learn the importance of protecting our waterways during a hands-on environmental activity with Mobile Bay Keeper. Girls will also take a tour of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta aboard the “Osprey” pontoon boat where our guides will entertain and educate them. Bring a sack lunch including drink and a picnic blanket to enjoy a picnic lunch on the 5 Rivers Delta grounds.

Since space is limited on the “Osprey" and to allow more girls to enjoy the tour, please adhere to the safety activity checkpoints for the adult/girl ratio for each troop.
