Come join the fun! Learn to sail and have an AWESOME time on beautiful Lake Martin. This program will help girls develop courage, confidence, and character through the skill of sailing. Cost includes: teaching instructions, accommodations, Saturday breakfast, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, and snacks for in between and starting home on Sunday. Out of council scouts welcome! 

The weekend will cover introduction to sailing and sailing safety for the class 1 sailors, while more experienced (those who have attended Summer Sail Away or past weekends) will learn more advanced skills to possibly move to a higher class. 

All other classes will be grouped by the level of experience of each sailor. All classes are taught basic water rescues, parts and rigging a sailboat, points of sail, weather, knots and hitches, and navigation. 

Class 1 – Beginners Single Sailing and Safety (Tandem) 

Class 2 – Intermediate Sailing Open Water (Tandem and Single) 

Class 3 – Dingy Sailing (Mainsail, Jib) 

Class 4 – Sloop Sailing (Flying Scot) 

Who: Girl Scouts 6th grade or higher (Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors) who can swim 50 yards and love the water! No tagalongs please! 

Cost: Entrepreneur Cost: $50 

Regular Cost and out of council: $100 Leaders/Adults: $20 (all adults are expected to help with meals and other chores). 

Registration Deadline: Sept 29, 2017. No refunds issued for cancellations after the registration deadline. 

Bring: Health History, Annual Permission Slips, bathing suits, sailing gloves, water bottle, SPF 85 sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water shoes (not flip flops), long sleeve shirt that can get wet, sleeping bag, pillow, and any other personal items needed for weekend camping trip. You may bring your own class III PFD with whistle attached. No need for eating utensils. Bring a bag lunch for Saturday.
