Field Executives' areas change.   With some staffing changes in the membership area, there have been modifications to the field executives' territories.    Cheryl Pierce Ankrom will assume the territory Marcia Willhite previously held, with a few changes.    In addition, we made a couple of shifts to better reflect travel patterns.  Those counties with a *star reflect a staff change.   Please see the list by county.

Just a reminder, the field executives' primary role in the council is to recruit new adult volunteers and girl members.   They are supposed to be out of the office in their territory.   If you have questions or concerns, Cheryl Miller serves as the council-wide volunteer services liaison and can answer all questions regarding policies, program registrations, fall product orders, cookie program and safety activity checkpoints.   She can be reached in the office at extension 2302 or on her cell at 334-312-0433.   You can call either council service center office, put in the extension, and the phone system will connect you to the appropriate office.   The council service center office numbers are 334-272-9164 and 251-344-3330.

Most of you have worked with a Girl Scout Field Executive at some point in your volunteer career.  Judging by the number of questions we receive, I would venture to guess you may not know what these ladies do every day.  Let me share what you can expect from your Field Executive:

1.    First and foremost, she recruits girls to be Girl Scouts and adults to be troop leaders.  She does this by scheduling roundups, Girl Scout nights and other fun events.

2.    She coordinates new leader trainings with staff and volunteer trainers.

3.    She attends many, but not all, service unit meetings.  Field Executives have up to nine different service units and as many as seven counties.

4.    She supports new leaders/troops by answering questions and offering guidance.

5.    She cultivates relationships with key leaders in her community.

As you can see, the Field Executives are very busy, but we are always happy to help!

Lindsey S. Milam

Director of Membership Development

Since many of you will soon be registering for the 2009-10 membership year (to take advantage of all of the perks!), here's some helpful tidbits for filling out registration forms:

On each Adult and Girl Registration Form there is a little box at the bottom of the form on the right.   You do  not have to check anything for category, but please put the council code (307), the troop number (4 digits) and the service unit number (3 digits) on every form.

On the Girl form, the Emergency Contact should be someone other than the parents, who can be contacted in an emergency if the parents are not available.

On the Adult forms, the position codes are listed in the right hand column of the form. Please put the correct code for adults:

01 for Troop Leader, 02 for Asst Leader, 03 for  Troop Committee Member, etc.  Only adults who complete the leader training courses should be listed as 01's or 02's.  Most parents are going to be listed as 14, which is Member. Some adults may have more than one position if they are a troop leader and also serve in another position.

If you have any questions about Early Registration, contact Lindsey Spear at 800-239-6636, ext: 1102.
