Introducing the Newest Journey Series

Available in December 2010, the "It's Your Story--Tell It!" leadership journey series uses a storytelling theme in a fun way for you to better understand yourself and your potential.

On this journey, an emphasis is also placed on media literacy and creative expression. All along the journey, you'll have opportunities to engage in a variety of arts, including performing, visual, culinary, and new media, to tell your story and take action to make the world a better place.

Check out the grade level titles and themes:

Daisy: 5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals!

Daisies learn just how much they can care for animals and for themselves--and just how good that makes them feel.

Brownie: A World of Girls

Stories teach Brownies clues about how they can create positive change in the world--change that affects girls.

Junior: aMUSE

Juniors learn just how many roles are open to them in the world and the possibilities those roles open for them.

Cadette: MEdia

Cadettes look for the ME in media and learn how they can shape media--for themselves, their community and the world.

Senior: MISSION: SISTERHOOD!

Seniors learn how widening their network broadens their world, and benefits the world as well.

Ambassador: BLISS: Live It! Give It!

Ambassadors learn to dream big, now and for their future, and begin their legacy as leaders who help others achieve their dreams too.

8547.jpgGirl Scout Brownie Troop 8547 earned their "Animals" badge recently by learning how to take good care of pets.  The girls also gathered lots of old towels, blankets, grooming supplies and toys to take to the City of Mobile Animal Shelter as a service project.

At the animal shelter, Mrs. Jackie talked to the girls about what the animal shelter does, the importance of spaying and neutering, and the importance of taking care of pets.  She also gave the girls cat and dog training CD's, stickers and shelter information.

Dear Girl Scouting friends:

Our brownie troop here in Mineola, Texas is embarking on an ambitious, year-long project and we need your help to prove friendship knows no boundries! We would like to exchange two (2), 12.5" muslin blocks with your group. The squares will become part of a banner we will use in parades, meetings, etc. On your block please put your troop number and location in the center with your girls signatures (first names only please!) surrounding it. Be sure to leave an empty 1/4 inch area around the edge for sewing seams together. Any embellishments your group would like to add would be great.

In return, we will send you two (2) similar blocks from our group along with little notes from our girls about what they enjoy doing here in Texas. If your girls would like to include similar notes it would be great fun and a wonderful learning experience for all our girls and a special memento for them to keep. If your group would like to participate or have any questions, please e-mail me at hotrodgrannie@gmail.com. Please put "girl scout quilt" in the subject line so I can quickly pick your message out. We look forward to hearing from you.
