to help support the 1^st class of Distinguished Young Women (formerly America's Junior Miss)

For one month the Pepsi Refresh Project is committing an additional $1.3 million toward ideas that refresh the gulf.

If you have ever experienced, witnessed, or heard about Distinguished Young Women, you know that these young women are truly inspiring and REFRESHING! And they are very special to our Council -- every year, our troops "adopt" participants to be inspired by them,  have fun with them, and show them how wonderful Alabama Girl Scouts are!  With this grant, we can make 2011 even better.

 The Distinguished Young Women organization does all this:

• Hosts the 2011 Distinguished Young Women on the Gulf Coast
• Encourages continued education and provides cash & college scholarships
• Showcases excellence in academics, fitness, talent, and communication
• Creates opportunities to beneficially inspire the lives of others

We need your help to continue encouraging young women across the country. The Pepsi Refresh Grant is an easy way to ensure a quality national program here on the Gulf Coast. Please pass this along. Together we can win the grant! Voting ends August 31.

Many of you are getting ready for their Junior Miss pals to come in town, and many of you have earned the America's Junior Miss Be Your Best Self patch.  Well, now you have a chance to be a Junior Miss for a day!  America's Junior Miss is holding a donation raffle at their Meet and Greet at Bel Air Mall, where you can enter for a chance to win.

Includes the following for one young girl, her mother and a friend on Saturday, June 27:

·         Front row seats at the 52^nd AJM National Finals and rehearsals on Saturday, June 27

·         Backstage passes during rehearsals to see the dressing rooms, hospitality rooms, hair and makeup, VIP rooms, and other backstage areas where you'll get to enjoy food and drinks with the Junior Misses and meet some of the VIP guests (like Lindsey Brinton, America's Junior Miss 2008)

·         Early admission to the State Specialties Party, where you'll get to meet the Junior Misses, their parents and Junior Miss volunteers from all 50 states

·         Personal attention from Chelsea Fenton, Mobile County's Junior Miss 2009, as she escorts you to all of the day's events

·         Two free merchandise items of your choice - one for you and one for your friend
