Dear Scout:

I want to go to Survivor, but I don't want to be voted off any island.  What happens there?

Signed,

Concerned about Surviving

Dear Concerned,

Our Survivor camp sessions aren't about competition -- they are about learning fun outdoor skills.  Like putting up a tent, cooking over a campfire, chasing squirrels through the woods...squirrels...um, what was the question?

Dear Scout:

I have never slept in a tent before.  What are tents like at night?

Signed,

Indoor Girl

Dear Indoor Girl,

Tents are the greatest!  They are just like dog houses, only bigger.  You are cozy inside a tent, but get to hear all the cool night sounds, like the soft wind and the owl hoots.  And your counselors are near, so they can pet you if you start chasing squirrels in your dreams.

Dear Scout:

I think it would be fun to go to Camp Scoutshire's Got Talent or Kamp Kiwanis' Got Talent camp sessions, but I don't want to be judged or made fun of.  What  happens there?

Signed,   ATeensy Bit Nervous

Dear Bit,

Our Got Talent! camp sessions aren't about competition or judging - they are about having fun while learning about being on stage, and then you get to show your parents what you learned!  There are even voice lessons!  I learned how to project my bark so I sound really big, and how to look pitiful so I get lots of pets and treats.

Dear Scout:

I have never been to overnight camp.  Will I miss my family too much to have a good time?

Don't Know if this is Such a Good Idea

Dear Know
I remember when I was a puppy and my mom would go away to nap or take a walk.  I really missed her and even whimpered a little.  My puppy littermates told me what to do!  They said to think about my favorite parts of my day, and to tell MYSELF the happy story I would get to tell my MOM when I saw her again.  It helped a lot!

Dear Scout:

I will be going to Mermaids with a friend who is a better swimmer than I am.  I'm afraid I can't keep up!  What should I do?

Signed,
All Wet

Dear All,

Don't Worry. Soon after you get to camp, the counselors will see how well you swim, so you can have fun learning with other girls who are about the same as you.  At Mermaids or Swimmerettes, you will become a better swimmer and learn new strokes

Personally, I think all you need to know is how to dog paddle

Dear Scout:

I want to come to camp, but I am afraid I won't know anyone or make any friends.  What should I do?

Signed,
A Little Shy

Dear Shy,

I know you will meet lots of new girls at camp.  Some of them will be your friends, if you are friendly to them.  The camp counselors try hard to help everyone get over their first shyness so they have a good time.  My best advice is to do what I do -- jump up and down, wag your tail, and lick their nose!  No one can resist the power of the nose lick!

My week at Kamp Kiwanis was great! My friends and I enjoyed so many fun activities like arts and crafts, boating, nature, archery, swimming, singing camp songs, and banana boating. My favorite activities were probably boating, archery, and banana boating.  It's hard to choose which activities were my favorites because I enjoyed them all.

The session I signed up for at camp was called Night Owls. We got to stay up later than all of the other campers doing fun night activities.  We went night swimming, hiking in the dark, and stargazing. I really liked going night swimming. It was great!

While at camp, my group completed some badge work. We worked on the Cadette Girl Scout Way badge. One of the requirements was to throw a party for an adult Girl Scout volunteer. We worked hard to throw a surprise party for Bossy, the camp director. It was really fun! We planned activities for all of the other girls to do and even baked cookies. The party was awesome!

Overall, my stay at Kamp Kiwanis was great! I made new friends while doing some of my favorite outdoor activities. We all had so much fun and I can't wait to go back next year!

Hey guys, it's Tori.

I just got back from horse camp and it was so much fun!

My horse's name was Quincy. He is a good horse and a big one, too. First we learned the basics: how to go and stop. Then we learned harder things like how to saddle and trot.  Then we had to clean the stables! That was really hard. The next day we had to wake up early to clean the stables, feed the horses and groom them.  And, then we had to saddle them.

On the last day of horse camp we got to go on a tour of the ring and on the trail. The trail was long and so much fun! It was a real treat for us and the horses.  It made us all very happy.  I like being a Girl Scout and learning new things! We even got to cook a hobo meal at our campsite. You should go to camp to learn new things too! It is fun!

Girl Scout Camp, Girl Scout camp, Girl Scout camp. Girl Scout camp is super fun! First, we go to a place called Camp Scoutshire Woods.Next we go to either the tents or the cabins. We clean the cabins a little and then cook dinner on an open fire. On Saturday we cook breakfast and do a flag ceremony. It's where we unfold the flag. Don't drop the flag! Our flag almost did but it was caught just in time! Next we learn how to do archery. There, they teach you how to use a bow-and-arrow. It's fun! Next, we put on makeup and have lunch.

After this, we go swimming and canoeing. We also learn to sing "Little Sally Walker Walking down the Street."We go swimming again and hiking this time too. Then, we go to sleep. On Sunday, we go home. If you go to camp, you will have fun like me because you'll meet new people and you'll learn to make butter. It's fun at Girl Scout camp. I love Girl Scout camp and you might too. I am looking forward to next time!

Hi, my name is Brianna and I am going to tell you about my enjoyable time at kayaking trip during the summer.

When I arrived at Scoutshire Woods Girl Scout Camp, Ranger Rick took our bags and put them in High Winds. Then, we went to a swimming party and it was a blast. We ate pizza and drank Capri Suns. After that, I was met by my tent buddies and they were friendly.

The next morning, we woke up and had a delicious breakfast. Next, we went to the canoe docks and practiced kayaking. After we practiced enough, we went to a Mississippi creek and kayaked for two to three hours When we were done we had a delicious hobo meal.  We enjoyed chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Boy! After that, we had fun and went canoeing and kayaking again. That night, we lit candles and sang sweet, sad songs that made the entire group of kayakers cry.

The next morning we packed our stuff and got ready to go home. We stayed at the Rec hall and played games for awhile.  One game we played was Cane Race. Once we did the races, the camp director announced the spirit stick. Kayaking the river trip was awesome. This is one camp that I will never forget because it was fun, enjoyable and amazing. I hope that everyone will go and have a lot of fun!
