Our very own Erin not only earned her Gold Award, but was also recognized at the GSUSA National Convention as one of the top 10 Gold Award recipients in the nation. Here she is talking about her project and the personal challenges she faced. We are so proud to recognize Erin as a Gold Award recipient and a member of Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama.

Hi, my name is Brianna and I am going to tell you about my enjoyable time at kayaking trip during the summer.
When I arrived at Scoutshire Woods Girl Scout Camp, Ranger Rick took our bags and put them in High Winds. Then, we went to a swimming party and it was a blast. We ate pizza and drank Capri Suns. After that, I was met by my tent buddies and they were friendly.
The next morning, we woke up and had a delicious breakfast. Next, we went to the canoe docks and practiced kayaking. After we practiced enough, we went to a Mississippi creek and kayaked for two to three hours When we were done we had a delicious hobo meal. We enjoyed chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Boy! After that, we had fun and went canoeing and kayaking again. That night, we lit candles and sang sweet, sad songs that made the entire group of kayakers cry.
The next morning we packed our stuff and got ready to go home. We stayed at the Rec hall and played games for awhile. One game we played was Cane Race. Once we did the races, the camp director announced the spirit stick. Kayaking the river trip was awesome. This is one camp that I will never forget because it was fun, enjoyable and amazing. I hope that everyone will go and have a lot of fun!
All Girl Scouts who sold $75 or more in Fall Product were entered into a contest to win a pair of toasty-warm and stylish Ugg boots! Four pairs were available to win, one in each area of our council.

My name is Aliyah. I'm an 8th grader at Baldwin Arts and Academic Magnet School. Along with loving Girl Scouts, I love playing volleyball. I've been a Girl Scout since I was in 1st grade. I've had lots of fun too.
The event I liked the most was when we went with our troop leader and co-leader to a huge Girl Scout Event. It was awesome! The companies that Girl Scouts get cookies, fall product and uniforms from were all there. I met professional basketball players, took a picture with Tony the Tiger, tried out computers, and we played games like golf, basketball and archery.
I also enjoyed going to Florida to the beach with my troop. Even though it rained while we were there, we got a chance to see the white sand and learn what the different color flags on the beach meant and we even built sand castles. Some of these helped us earn a Girl Scout patch. I am looking forward to being able to travel to other states while I am in Girl Scouts.
I am proud to say I'm a part
of 100 years of Girl Scouting. I enjoyed the 100th celebration at
Alabama Shakespeare Festival. There were tables where you could do basket
weaving, make key chains, earn patches, buy cotton candy and Girl Scout cookies.
My favorite table was the face painting booth. The girls painted a picture of a
volleyball on my face.

Shifts begin Monday, December 19, starting at 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., and shifts continue every day until Christmas Eve from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
We can use 2-3 volunteers per shift. Minimum age to volunteer with an adult is 10. Minimum age to volunteer without an adult is 16. Wear comfortable shoes and feel free to show your holiday spirit!
